Manchester United are expected to complete the signing of Martin Dubravkas for whom they spent £227m this summer
United have backed Erik ten Hag in the transfer window by spending big – giving the Dutchman more funds than any other manager in the club’s history – with Antony becoming Ajax’s most expensive signing. However, they failed to convince De Jong to swap Barcelona for the Old Trafford side – despite the Catalan giants accepting their offer.
During the summer they enriched the squad with: Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Antony and Dubravka, among whom there is more talent and are the areas where the team needed to strengthen both on the right wing and in the center of the attack, but De Jong was Ten Hag’s priority.
United will not stop here as they will look for the Dutchman in other terms – but expectations are that they will not make any more purchases after Dubravka even though Gapko is another player who has been rumored to move to this team in recent hours .
Ten Hag has spent the most of all United managers on his debut. In the first season Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spent 153 million pounds, where he had broken the record to buy defender Harry Maguire.
However, it wasn’t a perfect transfer window for United – not only that they are expected to transfer a lot of players, which played into their disastrous start to the season. However, Ten Hag have relied heavily – with particular emphasis on the transfer of Antony, who is the second most expensive player in history after Paul Pogba’s £89 million purchase.
The Ten Hag could play some of his players when United play Leicester City on September 1, three days before they play Arsenal in the Premier League.
