The club is finding it very difficult to sell some of its players
The end of the summer transfer window is fast approaching and Barcelona are struggling to find buyers for several players they wish to sell.
These sales are essential in reducing player wages, which are needed to sign new players and register the players Xavi has requested.
While some negotiations are making progress, others have stalled, with no resolution in sight.
Aubameyang and Chelsea
The most important sale, and one that the club has been working on for a long time, is that of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Barcelona have been in talks with Chelsea for a few weeks, but although a deal has been rumored several times, the truth is nothing has been finalised. With just two days until the end of the transfer window, selling the Gabonese is a high priority as it would free up space on the team’s wage bill.
Rejection of Al-Nassr
Another player who could leave is Miralem Pjanic. Lyon has shown interest in him, along with the Saudi Arabian team, Al-Nassr.
However, the president of this club has chosen social networks to emphasize that there has been no conversation with Barcelona about the Bosnian midfielder.
Pjanic’s situation is surprising. At first, it looked like he was close to leaving after returning from his loan deal at Besiktas, with only Xavi giving indications that he will stay.
However, although Sergio Busquets will be suspended against Real Sociedad, Pjanic will not play and the Bosnian has apparently given signs that he is looking for a new club.
There are no offers for Depay
A complex situation is that of Memphis Depay. The Dutchman was close to joining Juventus, but the club from Turin decided to sign Arkadiusz Milik.
Since then, no other club has shown interest in him. Although, nothing can be ruled out at this point, with just two days left in the summer window Depay will stay at the Camp Nou until at least the winter.
Dest and Braithwaite
Xavi has made it clear that Sergino Dest is not part of his plans, not even inviting him to match days.
Manchester United are said to be interested in him, but Barcelona want €20m for the right-back, a sum the Premier League side consider high. Villarreal have also been mentioned as a team that could look for him on loan following Juan Foyth’s injury.
As for Martin Braithwaite, he is asking for five million and the two sides are talking about a contract break soon.
