Real Madrid and Eintracht Frankfurt will play the European Super Cup tonight.
The winner of the Champions League and the Europa League will face each other in the match that will be played in Helsinki, Finland.
Carlo Ancelotti, who became the first coach to win the Champions League four times, expects a difficult game for his team, while he has praised tonight’s opponent, who had beaten Glasgow Rangers on penalties in the Europa League final.
“Last season, Frankfurt achieved something special because it was not one of the favorites”, said the Italian coach, as the Germans eliminated Barcelona among others.
Tonight’s match will be directed by the English referee, Michael Oliver.
Frankfurt will make its Super Cup debut tonight, while it will play Real for the first time since the European Cup final in 1960, when the Spanish giant won 7:3 at Hampden Park.
“Playing in the European Super Cup means that you have been successful, that you have won and that you have done a good job,” says Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp.
“Having the opportunity to win a trophy against Real Madrid at this stage of the season, there would be nothing better”, he concluded.
The match between Real Madrid and Eintracht Frankfurt will be played tonight at the “Olympiastadion” in Helsinki starting at 21:00.
