Arsenal have reportedly rekindled their interest in Cody Gakpo.
The Gunners were linked with a move for the Dutchman at the start of the summer transfer window after his excellent performances with PSV Eindhoven.
Gakpo scored 21 goals and added 15 assists in 47 appearances in all competitions, including 12 goals and 13 assists in 27 appearances in the Eredivisie, ranking as the second top scorer in the Dutch league.
After the transfer of Gabriel Jesus, Marquinhos, Fabio Vieiras and Oleksandr Zinchenkohs, it is said that Arsenal’s interest in the 23-year-old has cooled.
However, the Dutch medium “VI” has reported this Monday that the club from London has returned the interest in Gakpo – but that there must be patience to close a deal.
PSV face Monaco in the third qualifying round of the Champions League on August 2 and 9 and are reportedly unwilling to let the striker leave before those games.
The club from the football elite in the Netherlands is said to intend to keep Gakpo for the 2022-23 season as well, but the possibility is not excluded that they will allow him to leave at the end of the transfer window.
The Dutch international would only leave for a hefty sum, having recently extended his contract until January 2026.
Cody Gakpo, who is a product of the PSV club, in an earlier interview had revealed his desire to play in the Premier League, while also revealing his admiration for Arsenal.
