Real Madrid has proven to be an expert in winning finals. Such was today’s match where Real Madrid won the first trophy for this year by defeating Eintracht Frankfurt. David Alaba (37) and Karim Benzema (65) were the scorers for Los Blancos tonight
Real Madrid has started the new season where it ended last year – winning trophies.
Los Blancos, as last season’s Champions League winners, have been dominant against Eintracht Frankfurt who won the Europa League, the second most important competition in Europe.
The start of the first half was much better for Eintracht Frankfurt where Daichi Kamada (14) took a good pass and shot to score but Thibaut Courtois was there to deny him a goal.
Three minutes later, Vinicious Junior from Real Madrid was also near the goal, he shot, but even though the ball passed the goalkeeper, Tuta was there to make a brave intervention and deny the Brazilian a goal.
Frankfurt’s Ansgar Knauff again found himself in an ideal one-on-one situation to score in the 24th minute, but Courtois was there to make a fine save to save his own goal.
Real Madrid were more dangerous in the following minutes and it was again Vinicious Junior who struck in the 37th minute but Trap was there to meet the strike by deflecting the ball for a corner.
In the same minute Los Blancos would score. Casemiro finds free David Alaba who did not have a hard time to score since the defense of Frankfurt totally collapsed during this action.
Real were able to advance to 2-0 during the first half when Toni Kroos passed a good ball to Karim Benzema, who shot but his shot ended up outside the goal.
In the second half, Real immediately proved to be dangerous.
Again it was Vinicious Junior who in the 55th minute denied the goal to Kevin Trapp. Casemiro would make a powerful shot in the 61st minute, but the goal was denied to him by the post.
Frankfurt’s Knauff was again in an ideal position to score three minutes later but Courtois was again in the right place.
It was after this action that Real Madrid organized a good attack that resulted in the second goal. Vinicious Junior was the one who followed for Karim Benzema and he scored a masterful goal to give peace to the European champion on the way to the first trophy in the new season.
After this goal, Los Blancos had the game under control and did not allow many penetrating spaces for the German team.
In the end, Real won the first trophy for this year after defeating Eintracht Frankfurt in the European Super Cup, thus starting the new 2022/23 season on a good foot.
