Bayern Munich show why they rejected Cristiano Ronaldo

The German club has admitted that they have considered making this transfer

The media storm about Cristiano Ronaldo’s possible departure from Manchester United continues to simmer this summer.

One of the teams to have been linked with a move for the Portuguese forward was Bayern Munich, but they, along with Premier League side Chelsea, have distanced themselves from a potential deal with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn has admitted to Bild that the German club has evaluated the possibility of signing the Portuguese star.

“We have discussed this problem. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be doing our job well,” said Kahn, who has expressed his admiration for the forward.

“Personally, I think that Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best players on the planet.”

But it seems the five-time Ballon d’Or winner didn’t quite suit the Bundesliga champions and their style of play.

“We came to the conclusion that, despite our high regard for him, he doesn’t fit our philosophy as it stands now.”

So the future of CR7, who is 37 years old and has a salary of 29 million euros per year, remains open.

The former Real Madrid star is back at United’s training ground this week where he is expected to hold talks with Erik ten Hag and the club will try to better understand his situation. He still has a chance to play for the Red Devils in the new season even though he missed the pre-season games.
