Roma are increasing their interest in Manchester United defender Eric Bailly, who is wanted by manager Jose Mourinho.

The 28-year-old is believed to be close to moving to “Olympico”. According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, negotiations between the parties are progressing.

Bailly has a valid contract with the “Red Devils” until the summer of 2024, while there is also the option of extending it for another year.

However, insufficient space at Man United is pushing the player to leave Old Trafford.

Roma are said to be hoping to take Bailly on loan for next season, but with an option to buy at the end of the season.

If a move for him goes through, the Ivory Coast international would be the second defender to join Roma from Manchester United, after Chris Smalling.

We remember that Jose Mourinho was coach of Manchester United in 2016, when the club transferred Eric Bailly from Villarreal.
